Orchard Road was all aglow last night as President Tony Tan Keng Yam launched the Community Chest Christmas light-up.

He was accompanied by Mr Ichiro Iino, chief executive officer of sponsor Hitachi Asia, and Mr Kenji Shinoda, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, as he held a reindeer over the light-up mechanism to kick off the Great Street Light-Up.

The light-up, which is organised by Orchard Road Business Association, will go on until Jan 2, and is held in conjunction with activities to raise funds for the Community Chest's beneficiaries.
