Customers who just want to get their hands on McDonald's new Hello Kitty toys, can donate their meals to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF).
The Hello Kitty Bubbly World Series, which will be launched on Monday at 11am, will sell at $4.95 each with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal.
In a similar Hello Kitty toy promotion last year, some customers threw away the meals as they only wanted the toys.
To prevent food wastage this time, McDonald's will give customers the option of donating their meals. Customers can indicate this to counter staff.
Donated meals, valued at $5 each, will go to lower income families whose children are SPMF beneficiaries. These McDonald's meal vouchers will then be distributed to these families when the six-week long promotion ends.
