Two women, believed to be a mother and her daughter, were found dead on Wednesday morning at a HDB block in Ang Mo Kio.

Police said they received a call for assistance at Block 105, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 at 4.43am.

Officers responding to the call found the body of the 75-year-old woman in a unit on the sixth floor of the block. The body of the 51-year-old woman was located at the foot of the block.

It is believed that multiple stab wounds were found on one of the women. Police investigators seized knives from the unit as evidence.

Neighbours told The Straits Times that they woke up to a loud commotion at about 4am and heard a man knocking on the door of the flat where the two women lived.

They heard the man shouting, demanding to be let in, followed by a woman's scream and a loud thud below their block.

Police investigators were spotted combing the area and the flat for evidence before leaving the scene just after 11am. Investigations are ongoing.
