Two bodies found in Geylang hotel room on Sunday night

SINGAPORE - Two bodies were found at Hotel 81 Palace along Lorong 16 in Geylang on Sunday night.

Police had received a call at 7.45pm on Sunday requesting for help. A 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were found motionless in the hotel room, and paramedics pronounced both dead. Police are investigating the unnatural deaths.

The Straits Times understands that the 31-year-old man is an Indian national, while the 29-year-old woman is an Indonesian. Both are believed to be work permit holders. The woman had wounds on her body, and she was partially dressed. It is also believed that there were blood stains in the hotel room and bathroom.

When The Straits Times visited the hotel after 10pm, police officers were seen speaking to the hotel staff members. There were at least seven police vehicles, including a Crime Scene Investigation van, at the scene.

Police officers also viewed CCTV footage at the hotel lobby.

Student Millie Zheng, 20, a Chinese national who is currently staying at the hotel, said: "I know this is a red light district and it can be quite dangerous but I didn't expect this. I'm really worried and I don't think I can sleep tonight."
