Three charged with spanner attack that broke man's skull

SINGAPORE - A woman and two men were charged on Friday with hitting a man over the head with a spanner, breaking his skull.

Chiu Hwee Lang, 40, a Singaporean, Muniandy P. Selvam, 27, and Rajkumar Ponnapolam, 34, both Malaysians, allegedly caused grievous hurt to Mr Wang Lixin, 42, with the 30cm-long tool at the void deck of Block 228 Jurong East Street 21 at about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Mr Wang was taken to hospital.

Bail of $30,000 each was offered. In the case of the two Malaysians, their bailors must be Singaporeans.

If convicted, they could be jailed for life, or up to 15 years with a fine and caning.

They will return to court on May 15.
