Snatch thief suspect arrested in Boon Lay

SINGAPORE - A suspected snatch thief was arrested on Wednesday in Boon Lay.

Earlier in August, the suspect, 26, had allegedly snatched the purse of an elderly female victim near a HDB lift in Boon Lay Place. The purse contained a senior citizen EZ- Link card, keys and cash of about $45.

Investigations indicated that the suspect is also involved in a similar case in Boon Lay Drive reported on July 5.

The suspect will be charged in court on Friday for using criminal force to commit theft. If found guilty, he could face caning and a jail term of between one and seven years.
