A Singapore permanent resident was charged yesterday with two counts of distributing information intended to promote commercial sex with a minor below 18 years old outside Singapore.

Michael Frank Hartung, 45, who is a German national and a partner at business development firm Erasig, also faces two charges each of having obscene videos and films without valid certificates.

He allegedly distributed the commercial sex information to two Singaporeans, who are known only as Michael and Jackson Fong, at a Raffles City shopping centre cafe at 3.30pm on Sept 26, 2015.

Court papers did not mention the country that the minor is from.

Hartung purportedly committed the same crime at a Mackenzie Road pub near Little India at 7.45pm on April 15 last year. He supposedly he gave the information to two Singapore PRs, who are known only as Frank and Paul.

Four months later, Hartung was allegedly found to have 245 obscene films in his home on the eighth storey of Simei Green condominium in Simei Street 4. The videos were supposedly found on compact discs and computer files.

He was also purportedly found to have eight films, which did not have valid certificates in his home that day.

Hartung, who is married to a Singapore PR, is out on $15,000 bail.

He is represented by lawyer Raphael Louis.

A pre-trial conference has been fixed for Feb 28.

If found guilty of distributing information to promote commercial sex with a minor overseas, Hartung faces up to 10 years' jail and a fine per charge.
