SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 41-year-old man who allegedly slashed the throat, wrist and palm of his former girlfriend, a maid here.

He will be charged in court on Wednesday morning, the police said in a statement on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at about 6.30pm on Sunday, Aug 23, at Block 311 Tampines Street 33.

Ms Allen Remedios, 38, was attacked while on the way back to her employer's second-storey flat in that block.

The assailant, believed to be Ms Remedios' former boyfriend, stopped her on the first storey, and fled after slashing her throat, wrist and palm. Ms Remedios then stumbled up the stairs to her employer's flat, leaving a trail of blood in her wake.

She was brought, still conscious, to Changi General Hospital after the attack, and was transferred to Singapore General Hospital later that evening.

A bloodied 15cm-long cutter was apparently been found near the block.
