SINGAPORE - Two suspected drug importers were arrested on Monday night (June 22) and about 980g of cannabis and 37g of "Ice" were seized at Tuas Checkpoint, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a press release.

One black bundle suspected to contain cannabis was found concealed underneath the seat of a motorcycle during a routine check by the officers from CNB and Singapore Police Force K9 unit.

The two male Malaysians - a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old - were immediately placed under arrest.

When CNB officers conducted further checks, they found two more black bundles.

Subsequently, the 19-year-old male surrendered a packet of "Ice" to the officers.

Investigations are ongoing.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, those convicted of importing more than 500g of cannabis may face the death penalty.
