More defamation suits filed last year

According to the State Courts, 64 suits were filed last year, up from 50 in 2017 but lower than the 79 suits registered in 2016.

More defamation suits were filed in the State Courts last year, averaging five a month compared with four a month in 2017.
Some 60 per cent of these defamation suits last year were filed in the District Courts, while the remaining suits were filed in the Magistrates' Court.
