More defamation suits filed last year

CJ, lawyers say increase may be driven by use of social media, instant messaging

More defamation suits were filed in the State Courts last year, averaging five a month compared with four a month in 2017.

Some 60 per cent of these defamation suits last year were filed in the District Courts, while the remaining suits were filed in the Magistrates' Court.
