Man nabbed for house trespass, fraudulent possession and overstaying

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 36-year-old man believed to have committed house trespass, fraudulent possession and overstaying.

Several police reports were lodged between Aug 18 and Nov 2 this year by home owners, who found brand-new home appliances missing from their new flats that were undergoing renovation.

In most cases, the main gate was secured only with number locks.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division followed up on the reports and conducted extensive enquiries and investigations.

On the night of Nov 5, while conducting anti-crime patrols in Yishun Avenue 9, the police spotted a man behaving suspiciously while taking a lift up one of the new blocks of flats.

The man was subsequently detained in a unit and a search on his belongings uncovered items such as cash and mobile phones that he was unable to account for.

He was then arrested for house trespass, overstaying and fraudulent possession of property. Investigations against the suspect are ongoing.
