With the help of two members of the public, a 49-year-old man was caught for suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On Friday, at about 1.50pm, a 62-year-old woman was waiting for the lift at the void deck of a flat along Bedok Reservoir Road when the suspect came and stood behind her.

The victim walked into the lift but before the door could close, the suspect snatched the her purse and ran. According to police, the victim's screams caught the attention of Mr Lai Chen Min and Mr Low Ching Hong, who were working in the vicinity. They gave chase and managed to detain the suspect.

Police later arrested the suspect.
