Man arrested for vandalising police camera and notice board

SINGAPORE - A 41-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly vandalising a police camera and a residents' committee notice board.

At 6.45am on Thursday, a member of public reported to the police that one of the cameras located at the multi-storey carpark at Block 29A Marsiling Drive had been vandalised.

Slightly after 11am the next day, a police officer on patrol saw the defaced residents' committee notice board at Block 204 Marsiling Drive.

With the help of police cameras in the vicinity, the suspect was identified and arrested at the same block at 2pm.

Under the Vandalism Act, the offence is punishable with a maximum fine of $2,000 or a maximum jail term of three years. Offenders can also be sentenced three to eight strokes of the cane.
