Man arrested for suspected molest on MRT train

SINGAPORE - A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday (July 1) for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty committed on board an MRT train.

On May 26, a female victim made a police report that she was molested by an unknown man on board a train from Bishan MRT station towards Yio Chu Kang MRT station, the police said in a release.

Following investigations by officers from the Ang Mo Kio Division and Public Transport Security Command, the suspect's identity was established and he was arrested.

Investigations are ongoing, the police said.

Any person found guilty of the offence of outrage of modesty can be jailed for up to two years, fined, caned, or any combination of such punishments.
