Man arrested for allegedly stealing $200k watch and cash from another man in hotel

SINGAPORE - A 44-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (Sept 3) for suspected theft at a hotel along Orange Grove Road.

Around 3pm on Wednesday (Sept 2), police received a report from a 77-year-old man that his luxury watch valued at about S$200,000, as well as cash amounting to S$2,000 and RM400, were missing from a locker of the hotel.

Following the report, officers conducted extensive ground enquiries and subsequently established the suspect's identity. He was arrested at Jalan Sultan.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court today (Sept 4) for the offence of theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term for up to seven years and also a fine.
