Man, 57, arrested for throwing household items, paint from 4th-floor Boon Keng flat

A man was arrested after he was caught throwing household items and cans of paint from his fourth-floor flat in Boon Keng. Photos showed at least two cars in the car park that had been smeared with white paint.

SINGAPORE - A 57-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (Feb 18) after he was caught throwing household items and cans of paint from his fourth-storey Housing Board flat.

The police said they were alerted to the case at 15, Upper Boon Keng Road, at 10.20am.

"A man was reported to be throwing household items and cans of paint from his residential unit," police said. No injuries were reported.

He was subsequently arrested for committing a rash act and also under the Mental Health Act.

The Straits Times understands that the man lives alone.

Photos showed at least two cars in the car park that had been smeared with white paint.

A video showed officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at the scene, where curious onlookers had also gathered.

An SCDF spokesman told ST that it received a call for assistance at 10.55am and immediately dispatched its resources to the location.

Two life packs and a rescue net were deployed.

The man was arrested after police officers broke into his unit, the spokesman added.

Police investigations are ongoing.
