Man, 44, charged with stabbing ex-sister-in-law using 18cm-long knife

SINGAPORE - A man was charged in court on Thursday (Oct 13) with causing grievous hurt to his former sister-in-law by stabbing her left palm with a knife.

No plea was taken from G. Abhilash.

The 44-year-old allegedly stabbed her with an 18cm-long knife at the loading/unloading bay of Block 961 Hougang Avenue 9 at about 10.30am on Wednesday (Oct 12).

The prosecution applied for the case to be adjourned, pending a medical report on the victim.

Abhilash has a pending case for allegedly breaching a personal protection order but no details were disclosed in court.

Bail of $20,000 was allowed.

The case will be mentioned on Nov 3.

If convicted, Abhilash could be jailed for up to 15 years, fined or caned.
