The Straits Times has learnt that a rented four-room Housing Board flat in Jurong West Street 61, belonging to a Singaporean couple, has been operating as a brothel for some time.

A neighbour expressed safety concerns because of the number of men who visit the unit, while MPs in the area said they have received feedback from residents about such brothels, and are calling for more enforcement action.

Since January, the authorities have conducted anti-vice raids in housing estates in areas such as Yishun and Sembawang, and arrested at least 82 women.

An HDB spokesman warned that compulsory acquisition action can be taken against owners of such flats.
