Man gets eight weeks' jail for insulting modesty

A consultant who used his phone to film a woman taking a shower in the bathroom of his HDB flat was sentenced to eight weeks' jail yesterday. Lionel Chong Teck Yuen, 56, had admitted to three of four counts of insulting the modesty of the 29-year-old woman in 2013. He would stand in the toilet area next to the shower and raise his cellphone over the partition, capturing the victim showering.


Institute to hold 50 classes for PMEs

The Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) has for the first time committed to hold 50 classes in a year for professionals, managers and executives under its Master Class Series.

More than 20 classes, on topics such as human resources, wine appreciation and manufacturing productivity, have been held since January. Yesterday, around 150 white-collar workers went for a seminar on property management and facilities management at the Devan Nair Institute in Jurong.

The series, which has previously operated on an ad hoc basis, is expected to help at least 5,000 workers.


Roads closed for NDP rehearsal today

Roads around the Padang and Kallang will be closed today

Woman charged over bribery bid

A South Korean woman was charged yesterday for allegedly bribing five police officers not to arrest her for prostitution.

Hwang Eunmi, 37, allegedly offered them cash amounting to $1,550. The offer was rejected by the officers, who reported her to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau .

If convicted, she will be fined up to $100, 000, sentenced to up to five years' jail or both.
