SINGAPORE- Five suspected drug traffickers and 91 suspected drug users were arrested by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers in an island-wide operation from Monday to Thursday.

An assortment of drugs including some 72g of heroin, 19g of Ice (methamphetamine in its crystallised form) and 32g of cannabis and some Ecstasy tablets were seized.

The operation was targeted at street level demand for illicit drugs, said the drug enforcement agency in a statement on Friday.

CNB officers, supported by police officers, were deployed in various areas including Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay, and Geylang.

A 43-year-old suspected drug trafficker was arrested in one of the raids. Suspected of pushing heroin in the Hougang area, the man was arrested at the void deck of his flat in Hougang Avenue 5 on Monday afternoon. He was found with a plastic straw of heroin and various drug paraphernalia.

He was taken back to his unit where CNB officers found another 56g of heroin, a digital weighing scale and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus, among other drug paraphernalia. Investigations against the suspected drug users are ongoing.
