A delivery driver was jailed for 24 months on Tuesday for underage sex with a teen he met on Facebook.
Eugene Prem Kumar, 30, who faced five charges, pleaded guilty to three counts of having sex with the 14-year-old girl sometime between September and October 2010 at his flat in Yishun Avenue 5.
A district court heard that Kumar was 27 when he came to know the teen via Facebook in September 2010. She told him she was 14 while he gave his age as 21 to 22.
They met a week later. She agreed to be his girlfriend.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Lim Yu Hui said Kumar took the girl to his flat soon after. He initiated sex with her but she refused. She later gave in to his request for oral sex.
On another occasion, when he asked her to go to his flat, she brought a friend along, thinking he would not ask her for sex.
Initially, the three of them were in the living room. He later asked the victim to follow him to his bedroom where he had sex with her. Her friend knocked repeatedly on the door and said she was leaving.
In the third proceeded charge, Ms Lim said the victim went to Kumar's flat with another friend of hers. As his brother was at home, Kumar asked the victim to go to his bedroom. After they had sex, he dropped the victim and her friend at the taxi stand at Woodlands MRT station.
Ms Lim told District Judge Christopher Goh that Kumar was persistent in his request, and the episodes occurred very shortly after they entered into a relationship. She also said he was twice her age and engaged in unprotected sex with the victim.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined on each charge.
