SINGAPORE - Eighty-eight drug offenders were arrested in a drug bust operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
Between Wednesday and Friday, it swooped on locations including Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok East, Chai Chee, Commonwealth, Jurong West, Simei, Tampines and Woodlands.
Some 1.5kg of heroin, 74g of methamphetamine, 207 Erimin-5 tablets, 11 Ecstasy tablets and 760g of cannabis were seized in the raid. The total drug haul had an estimated street value of more than $147,000. The heroin seized could feed the addiction of about 747 abusers for a week, the CNB said in a release.
The bulk of the drugs were seized from a 28-year-old Singaporean man. He was arrested by CNB officers at 1.40pm on Thursday in the Commonwealth area.
The suspect, who is allegedly involved in drug trafficking, was brought back to his hideout in a Housing Board unit in the vicinity where officers seized the drugs.
A 30-year-old Singaporean woman suspected of abusing drugs was also arrested in the unit.
