86 suspected drug offenders nabbed in 4-day blitz

SINGAPORE - A total of 86 suspected drug offenders, including an alleged drug trafficker, were nabbed by Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers in a four-day islandwide operation which ended on Friday morning.

Drugs seized included 157g of heroin, 160g of Ice, 27g of ketamine, 82 ecstasy tablets, 293 Erimin-5 tablets and a small amount of cannabis.

The CNB operation was supported by police officers. It covered areas including Bukit Merah, Bukit Panjang, Boon Lay, Geylang Bahru, Marsiling, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Woodlands.

As part of the operation, CNB officers raided a home in the vicinity of Geylang Bahru on Wednesday and arrested a 25-year-old Singaporean man there for suspected drug abuse.

Among the items seized were small amounts of 'Ice', ketamine, cannabis, and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus.

Based on follow-up investigations, CNB officers arrested another 39-year-old Singaporean man in the vicinity for suspected drug trafficking.

About 25g of Ice and 50 Ecstasy tablets were found on him.

A search of the his vehicle uncovered more drugs.

Drug paraphernalia and a digital weighing scale were also seized from the vehicle.

A raid of the man's suspected hideout, a private housing unit in Pasir Ris, uncovered small amounts of various drugs.

Investigations into all the suspects are ongoing.
