SINGAPORE - A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a break-in reported at Bukit Batok West Ave 8.

Last Thursday (April 14) at about 3.45am, the victim was awoken by noises from the corridor and spotted an unknown male subject outside his unit, the police said in a media release on Wednesday.

Upon being discovered, the man fled.

The victim then reported the matter to the police. Following the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive ground enquiries.

With the aid of police cameras, the suspect's identity was established and he was subsequently arrested along Bukit Batok West Ave 8 on Tuesday.

The Straits Times understands that the man was attempting to break in.

Housebreaking and theft by night is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 14 years and a fine.
