SINGAPORE - About 1.4kg of heroin worth over $99,000 has been seized and a suspected drug trafficker arrested, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said on Wednesday (May 25).

According to CNB, it had deployed officers near Yishun Avenue 6 on Tuesday (May 24) to observe the suspect, a 46-year-old Singaporean man.

He was seen meeting with a suspected drug associate, a 63-year-old Singaporean man, and two Malaysian men - aged 22 and 24 - at the void deck of a block in the area.

After they went their separate ways, CNB officers swiftly moved in and arrested all four.

The heroin was recovered from a haversack the suspected trafficker was carrying, while more than $30,000 in cash was also seized during the operation. Investigations are ongoing.

Those found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine (or pure heroin) face the death penalty.
