14 suspects arrested over incident along Circular Road that led to man's death

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a total of 14 suspects - 11 men and three women aged between 20 and 42 - in connection with the death of a man following an incident along Circular Road on Christmas Eve last year.

Responding to a call for assistance at around 3am on Dec 24, 2015, the police found two 30-year-old men with injuries along Circular Road. They were sent to Singapore General Hospital for treatment.

One of the men succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Jan 1 this year, the Singapore Police Force said in a statement on Wednesday night (Jan 6).

Of those arrested, nine have been charged with rioting. If convicted, they face up to seven years in jail and caning.

Police investigations are ongoing.
