Consolidation of various social services may help vulnerable groups: ESM Goh

Residents of Marine Parade could get a "community safety-net" next year that consolidates the various types of social services here, said Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong at a community event on Saturday.

What he currently calls the WeCare initiative will function as "an integrator, aggregator and distributor of services" to help vulnerable groups.

Independent of the People's Association and family service centres, who may join as partners, it is likely to have key staff and social workers to help people see whether they qualify for assistance and direct them to the right service providers.

Mr Goh, who is also an MP for Marine Parade GRC, was speaking at the 5th anniversary celebrations of the MacPherson Wellness Programme at MacPherson Community Club.
