Classic cars and more in The Life

FROM driving around in a classic Cadillac to putting the pedal to the metal in a Porsche 911 Turbo, car enthusiasts rev up their engines for the cover story of the third issue of The Life digital magazine.

The issue, which is out now, and can be downloaded for free at www.straitstimes.com/ST-Star-app, features motor heads such as businessman Karsono Kwee, 66, who have a passion for their wheels - both old and new.

Mr Kwee, who owns motor business Trans Eurokars group, has a collection of 25 to 30 cars, and six motorcycles, which include a 1967 Saab 9-2 and a 1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.

Vintage car lover and retired lawyer Chia Quee Khee shares heart-warming tales about his cars. For example, he got married in a 1949 MG Y-T, but switched to a Jaguar XJ midway because the MG did not have air-conditioning and was too hot for the wedding party.

British luxury furniture designer Christopher Guy Harrison opens up his home, in the unusual location of High Street Centre, and which boasts a stunning view of the Marina Bay area.

For those with wanderlust, read about where to go stargazing in New Zealand. Lake Tekapo has been named by astronomers as the world's largest, loveliest "park in the sky".

In the food section, find out how Macallan whisky gets its distinctive taste from specially made oak barrels from Spain, and the lengths that gin brand Hendrick's went to, to uncover its latest ingredient in the Venezuelan rainforest.
