Citi raises $570k for SPH charity funds

CITI Technology Groups raised more than $570,000 for two charity funds run by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) through a charity golf event and auction yesterday.

Last night, top executives from the global financial services company presented a mock cheque to Mr Patrick Daniel, editor-in-chief of SPH's English and Malay Newspapers Division, at a gala dinner where Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the guest of honour.

The money will be split equally between ChildAid, a charity concert in aid of The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which provides needy students with pocket money, and The Business Times' Budding Artists Fund, which nurtures the artistic talents of underprivileged children.

This year, more than 11,000 students will benefit from the funds. It is not the first time Citi has raised money for SPH-linked charities. To date, the companyhas raised more than $1.2 million for the funds.
