Police have arrested a 58-year-old Chinese national in connection with the death of his 41-year-old wife at their Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2 flat on Thursday.

A spokesman said the police received a call about a domestic disturbance at the unit earlier at 4.02am but paramedics, who were activated later, subsequently pronounced the woman dead at 4.32am.

The police have classified the case as murder.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department were still at the scene gathering evidence late in the morning, even as the victim's body was taken away in a police hearse at about 9.45am.

The Straits Times understands that the body was found on the floor in the flat.

Neighbours say the couple has a daughter who is in secondary school here. They also said that the police have attended to previous incidents of domestic disputes at the unit.
