Chinese national charged with girlfriend's murder at Choa Chu Kang

A Chinese national was charged in hospital on Monday with the murder of his girlfriend at a flat in Choa Chu Kang on Sunday.

Xiao Guiliang, 30, a driver, allegedly caused the death of Ms Zhang Jie, 25, at the flat at Block 674 Choa Chu Kang Crescent between 2am and 2.20am that day.

Ms Zhang, a sales person, was said to have been slashed multiple times. She died at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Xiao was charged at Singapore General Hospital. His case will be mentioned on July 29. If convicted of murder, he faces the mandatory death penalty.
