Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao goes digital with launch of smartphone, tablet apps

Chinese daily newspaper Lianhe Wanbao launched its smartphone and tablet apps on Monday as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

The smartphone app can be used on both iPhones and Android phones, while the tablet app covers both iPad and Android tablets. The apps may be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store and Google Play.

The newspaper is offering users a free one-month trial starting from Monday that grants full access to content on all the digital platforms, such as videos and photo galleries. Those interested can register an account via Wanbao Online at wanbao.com.sg, or through Wanbao apps. Deadline for registration is at 11.59pm on Oct 9.

A subscription paywall will be rolled out on Oct 10. All registered users will be notified and invited to sign up for the subscription package.
