Chia-yi Chua appointed Singapore's Honorary Consul-General in Toronto, Canada

SINGAPORE - Mr Chia-yi Chua has been appointed Singapore's Honorary Consul-General in Toronto, Canada.

Mr Chua, 48, will have jurisdiction over the province of Ontario, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release on Wednesday.

He is currently a partner at McCarthy Tetrault LLP, where he leads the tax litigation and tax dispute resolution group. He represents companies in Canada's significant industries, including financial services, telecommunications, resource, retail, hospitality and transportation.

Singapore's bilateral ties with Canada is currently represented by the country's Non-Resident High Commissioner to Canada as well as the Honorary Consul-General in Vancouver.
