Chain collision near Somerset MRT; no major injuries reported

Two taxis, a Sports Utility Vehicle(SUV) and an SBS bus were involved in a chain collision just outside Somerset MRT station.

A passenger from the bus suffered a cut, according to the driver of the SUV, who only wanted to be known as Mr Lim.

He said the incident happened when one of the taxis tried to avoid a trailer that was parallel parking beside the construction site beside shopping mall 313@somerset. The 42-year-old self-employed man said that he usually avoids the road as it is congested due to several trailers taking up a lane on the three-lane road.

He was not injured, but the rear of his car was smashed. The front of the bus behind him came unhinged, and the windscreen was cracked. "I stopped because the taxi in front of me stopped. I was shocked when the bus hit me because I didn't think it was so near," he said.
