CEOs asked to take the lead in screening for colorectal cancer

The group of chief executives have been encouraged to take the lead and get screened for colorectal cancer.

Together with these chief executives, more than 10 organisations have also pledged their support to an initiative to actively promote early screening of the cancer through a colonscopy. Studies have shown that with early detection, survival rates can be as high as 95 per cent.

Information relating to the illness will be disseminated to employees including those from DHL, Maybank and ST Microelectronics. In Singapore, colorectal cancer is the top most occurring cancer for men and the second for women.

Called "Screen for Hope", this initiative is organised by Fortis Colorectal Hospital and done in conjunction with the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March.
