Central Mosque Cluster and new volunteer management system launched by Muis

The Central Mosque Cluster, the fifth and largest one under the Enhanced Mosque Cluster (EMC) system, was launched by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) on Saturday.

Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, guest of honour at the event, said: "EMCs have enhanced the capabilities of our mosques in the areas of corporate governance, capacity-building and improved efficiency through the pooling of resources."

There are four other EMCs in the North East, North West, South East, and South West districts. The Central Mosque Cluster covers 29 of the 69 mosques here, and is the last of the EMCs to be formed.

On Saturday, Muis also launched its Volunteer Management System, a web-based portal that matches Muis' befrienders to beneficiaries. Muis has 550 befrienders who help families with their financial and emotional needs. Some 51 of them were promoted to senior befrienders at the launch event.
