CCTVs to be installed in 30 new locations to deter illegal parking

New close-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) will be installed at 30 locations islandwide to deter illegal parking.

In a statement on Monday, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that the cameras were being installed at public roads with a high incidence of illegal parking. This includes Collyer Quay, Choa Chu Kang Loop, and Tampines Central 1.

They will be rolled out progressively from the second quarter of 2013, with all to be completed by 2014. The installation of the new cameras follows a successful trial the use of CCTVs along Beach Road and at Marine Parade Central.

The CCTVs will be operational 24 hours and prominent signs will be put up in these zones to remind motorists not to park illegally.
