Woh Hup to raise funds for arts charity

Woh Hup, Singapore's largest private construction group, is planning to raise funds for the Very Special Arts (VSA) charity through a live auction at its upcoming annual dinner for subcontractors on Oct 5.

Woh Hup, which has donated $3 million to social and education causes to mark its 90th anniversary, has bought five paintings at an exhibition held by VSA and will auction these pieces at the dinner to be attended by some 150 contractors who have worked with the company over the years.

The auction is expected to raise at least $20,000 for VSA.

S'pore Red Cross bazaar at Suntec on Saturday

The Singapore Red Cross is organising its biennial Red Cross International Bazaar to raise funds for services to help the disabled, elderly and vulnerable.

The fair, to be held this Saturday at the Suntec Convention Centre, brings together diplomatic missions, local enterprises and schools in a 50-stall showcase. All sales proceeds go to the causes.

The bazaar, first organised in 1994, will feature international cuisine and local delights, traditional gifts and games, and cultural song and dance performances.
