Causes Briefs: Healthy meals for the needy

Healthy meals for the needy

Food bundles containing fresh ingredients for healthy meals were distributed to 1,722 needy families on Oct 8.

Organised by the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, the donation drive was held in recognition of World Food Day on Oct 16, a global day of action against hunger.

Each bundle, worth $37.50, contained locally-grown produce such as barramundi, green leafy vegetables and eggs.

To fund the drive, close to $35,000 was raised across five Pan Pacific and Parkroyal hotels between July and August.

Run to raise funds for the hearing impaired

Run for Charity 2017 will be held on Nov 18 to raise funds for the hearing impaired.

Held by Singapore Polytechnic Graduates' Guild, the institute's Department of Student Development and Alumni Relations and People's Association's Community Sports Club Ulu Pandan, the run aims to raise $100,000 to support the Singapore Association for the Deaf.

The association provides services to more than 5,100 deaf and hearing impaired clients. These services include education and training, case management and counselling, sign language interpretation, sale of assistive hearing devices, and psychosocial and financial assistance.

The run is open to both competitive and casual runners of all age groups.
