Mr Nicolas Amet, 24, has yet to pop the question to 23-year-old Victoria Hoo, his girlfriend of three years - but winning Kiss92 FM's first ever dating contest might just be the push he needed.
Over the last six weeks, Kiss92's Perfect Match contest has put three couples through challenges such as cooking together for a crowd of 30 people, a lie detector test conducted by a former policeman, and a compatibility challenge with a marriage preparation counsellor.
After a final showdown on Saturday at Parkroyal on Pickering, Mr Amet and Miss Hoo now have $60,000 worth of prizes to splurge on their dream wedding. This includes $8,888 in cash, a wedding gown from The Gown Warehouse, and a $10,000 wedding party at the hotel.
The youngest couple in the competition, Mr Amet and Miss Hoo were up against polytechnic sweethearts Miss Cheryl Li and Mr Aaron Teo, who have been dating for 7 years, and two-thirds of local band The Animal Parade, Miss Tan Siling and Mr Jonathan Liang. All four are 25 years old.
The three couples were picked out of over 100 video submissions. Mr Amet has gained a firm stamp of approval from his in-laws, even though they got off to a rocky start.
"He didn't give us a good first impression. But, we discovered he's so real. There's no fakeness to him. To see him maturing in this contest, and to watch them learn to work together and understand each other as a couple," said Miss Hoo's mother, Mrs Mabel Hoo, 47.
