Three people were taken to hospital early yesterday after an accident in which a Mini Cooper crashed into a parked car in the city centre.

Witnesses said the Mini was travelling at a "high speed" when it hit the Toyota Vios in Bencoolen Street before overturning.

The Mini's female driver was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, along with the driver of the parked car, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

A passer-by is also believed to have been hurt.

The extent of their injuries was not known last night.

Real estate agent Aaron Wan, 27, who witnessed the accident while driving home, said: "The impact was so great that the Mini Cooper flipped onto its back. The tyres and the suspension of the Toyota were dislodged and flung onto the road. Diners at the nearby prata shop were in shock."

Police received a call about the accident around 4.15am. Investigations are under way.
