SINGAPORE - A car caught fire while travelling on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Wednesday night (July 11). No injuries were reported.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it responded to a car fire on the AYE towards the Marina Coastal Expressway after the Keppel Road exit at about 9pm.

A video uploaded to Facebook shows the car parked on the left road shoulder, with the front half of the vehicle engulfed in flames. A man who could be the driver can be seen standing some distance behind the vehicle.

The Straits Times understands that the fire started from the car's engine.

In response to queries, SCDF said that the fire was extinguished with a compressed air foam backpack and a water jet.
