Bringing alive Whampoa's rich heritage

The living heritage of Whampoa will come alive with the help of a new project by the Tsao Foundation. Some 25 elderly residents are now being trained as curators as part of the project, Curating Whampoa, which seeks to document the rich culture of the neighbourhood.

They will share tales, including personal accounts, that tie in with the estate.

The project is also aimed at encouraging active ageing. Ms Susana Concordo Harding (above), director of Tsao's International Longevity Centre, said that if the initiative succeeds, the foundation hopes to inspire other voluntary welfare organisations to launch similar projects in other estates.

"The elderly embody history and can share this wisdom with the young in Whampoa to craft a future together," she said.
