THERE will be special reason to cheer when you wake up on Wednesday.

The Straits Times has partnered McDonald's to offer a special treat for readers: a McDonald's sausage McMuffin and coffee or tea for $1.70.

The usual price for this meal is $3.

This special one-day promotion is to celebrate ST's 170th anniversary and ST's refreshed interface.

Just present a copy of the new ST on Wednesday, from 7am to 11am, at any of the 119 participating McDonald's outlets.

The offer is valid for the first 170 redemptions per outlet.

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A survey earlier this year found that Singaporeans begin often without eating breakfast," said Ms Carolyn Khiu, McDonald's director of corporate communications and e-business.

She said: "We feel that The Straits Times would be a powerful media for McDonald's to communicate breakfast messages.

"Singaporeans can enjoy a good breakfast as they catch up with the news in the morning."

CORECTION NOTE: In the report, Ms Carolyn Khiu, director of corporate communications, e-commerce and customer relations at McDonald's, was wrongly quoted as saying that many people in Singapore skip breakfast. In fact, only 8 per cent skip breakfast, according to a McDonald's survey and one-third multi-task in the morning. We are sorry for the error.
