SINGAPORE - A 10-year-old boy was hit by a lorry in Ang Mo Kio on Thursday (March 1) and was taken to hospital.

The police told The Straits Times that they were alerted to the accident at 5.59pm that day. It involved a lorry and a 10-year-old pedestrian along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, towards Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

The boy was taken conscious to KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the hospital was alerted to be on standby to receive him, which is typical of more serious cases.

ST understands that he suffered head injuries.

He is believed to have appeared on the road while the lorry was passing by a bus stop near Block 110, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4. There were two buses at the bus stop at the time.

A resident in the area who gave her name as Madam Wang told Lianhe Wanbao in a report on Friday that the boy was dressed in a school uniform that appeared to be from Ang Mo Kio Primary School.

She said he had alighted from a bus and was walking between two buses to cross the road when he was hit.
