Body recovered off Tanjung Pinang, search for capsized barge crew continues

Indonesian authorities have recovered a body off Tanjung Pinang, the capital of the Indonesian province of Riau Islands, on Tuesday at about 6.15am. The identity of the body is being verified, and it remains unclear whether this is one of the missing crew members from the capsized Bolivia-flagged barge Heng Hong 168.

The barge capsized on Dec 19 in Singapore waters, about three nautical miles west of the Horsburgh Lighthouse. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has since coordinated search and rescue operations for the four missing crew members of the capsized vessel.

So far, operations have involved two Super Puma helicopters from the Republic of Singapore Air Force, three patrol vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy, three Police Coast Guard patrol craft, assets from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, the Royal Malaysian Navy and Indonesia's Rescue Sub-centre Tanjung Pinang, divers and a diving support vessel from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia), and about 200 passing commercial vessels.
