SINGAPORE - The body of an old man was found floating in the Kallang River on Tuesday morning. He is believed to be in his 70s.

Evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that a cleaner spotted the body around 8.30am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident around 8.38am, and sent an ambulance and fire engine to the scene.

SCDF officers retrieved the body with the help of a nearby boat. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police are investigating the unnatural death.
