Top executives from Changi and its airport partners donned aprons and rolled up their sleeves to serve hot coffee to travellers and staff yesterday morning.

The coffee giveaway was a small gesture to say "thank you" for the support over the years, which helped Changi bag its 500th best airport award recently.

Free coffee was available from 6am to 11am - and it will be offered today as well - at dedicated coffee kiosks at nine locations across the airport terminals in both the public and transit areas.

Changi Airport Group chief executive Lee Seow Hiang said: "We are both honoured and humbled to have received our 500th best airport award. This is a significant event and a special gift to the nation, too, as we draw near to the close of our celebrations for SG50."

He added: "The 500th award is an encouragement that will spur us to further innovate and demand from ourselves the highest level of service and the best possible travel experience for all our passengers."
