New shopping centre Bedok Mall opened its doors to the public on Tuesday, with all 200 shops fully leased.

Some retailers have chosen to set up their first shop in Singapore at the new mall. For instance, Malaysian leather brand Sembonia opened its Singapore flagship store, while American chicken wings franchise Wingstop made its Asian debut there.

Other popular brands like UNIQLO, Cotton On, FairPrice Finest and Charles & Keith have also opened at the mall.

Renowned restaurants that have also set up shop there include Taiwanese chain Din Tai Fung, Hong Kong dim sum eatery Tim Ho Wan, Itacho Sushi and Canton Paradise.

The mall, which is owned and managed by CapitaMalls Asia, is part of an integrated development comprising the 583-unit condominium Bedok Residences developed by parent company CapitaLand.

The development is also directly linked to the Bedok MRT station from basement two, while the Bedok bus interchange will be located on level two when it begins operations next year.

"With the mall's extensive offerings, prime location in the heart of Bedok Town Centre, as well as excellent connectivity to the major transport nodes and the rest of the neighbourhood, we are confident that in time, Bedok Mall will become the heart of the Bedok estate," said the mall's development manager Kevin Siew.

A five-minute walk from Bedok Mall will take shoppers to Bedok Point, the only other mall in the neighbourhood which was opened by Frasers Centrepoint Malls in April 2011.
