Of the 16 workers injured in Wednesday night's accident on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) between a lorry and a car, 14 of them have been discharged with minor injuries, said their employer.

One worker is still warded for observation at Alexandra Hospital while another is at National University Hospital (NUH), said Hypex Engineering and Services' operations manager Ng Cheow Teck. They are under observation for a head injury and back pain respectively, he added.

The accident, which happened shortly before 9pm Wednesday before the Jurong Town Hall exit in the direction of the city, occurred when a black car rear-ended the lorry, said Mr Ng. The police confirmed that the driver of the car, a 44-year-old Singaporean man, has been arrested for drink-driving.
